Urban Alliance joins Northside Association, Kalamazoo Promise to expand job training programs

KALAMAZOO, MI — The Northside neighborhood’s vocational training center is expanding programs with a new partnership, the Northside Association for Community Development announced.
The Neighborhood-Based Technical and Vocational Skills Training Center, launched by the Kalamazoo Promise and the NACD, will now include advanced manufacturing technical training thanks to a new partnership with Urban Alliance.
Urban Alliance was founded in 1999 with the mission of helping to break the cycle of generational poverty within Kalamazoo. The NACD partnership furthers the organization’s outreach effort in Kalamazoo’s core neighborhoods, said Joe Brown, senior director of operations at Urban Alliance.
“Partnering with and locating our technical training programs at NACD allows for access to opportunities not currently accessible to a large portion of our community due to location and accessibility,” Brown said. “It is exciting to bring this training to the community instead of expecting the community to go to the training.”
